They brought operational equipment such as road signage, beacon light, barrier, baton light, blinker and cone with them. Technical Executive, En. Aziz Mat Awin, Supervisor En. Wan Azmi and Junior Supervisor, En. Shukri arrived not long after. Road signages were installed and traffic management was undertaken amid heavy rain, strong wind, cold temperature (14 degrees C) and darkness.
Things became more challenging when telecommunication line was cut off forcing the person in charge to travel 8 km to regain it. Whilst busy at work, En. Affendi from Roadcare HQ and Mr Yap from Kumpulam Ikram arrived joining the other staff at the scene. Prompt action was taken by sending a machine to knock down the road divider, to facilitate the construction of the new diversionyp. The non-stop operation went on until 10.30 am when the 40-metre road divider was eventually torn down and cleared. Subsequently 'crusher run' was spread before coating it with pavement. At the same time, staff from Roadcare Kota Bharu brought in additional equipment such as plastic barrier, road signages, arrow light and battery so that the new route could be opened to road users within the stipulated time. After the pavement work had been completed and the barrier layout arranged accordingly, temporary 'roadline' including arrow and 'tranverse bar' was put in place to assist road users in using the newly constructed diversion satisfactorily. It was opened to all traffic at 8 pm on 17 December 2008. |
