Roadcare (M) Sdn Bhd successfully employed a range of traditional and advanced road solutions in last year’s economic stimulus package projects. The more technologically-advanced pavement treatment method called Cold In Place Recycling (CIPR) was used for both the Jalan Mak Lagam project in Terengganu and the Jalan Simpang Pelangai project in Pahang. This solution is more environmentally friendly and cost effective. The company also employed the more traditional techniques such as Regulate & Overlay, Recon & Overlay, Mill & Pave and Resurfacing for other road works under the economic stimulus projects. Roadcare’s Head of Engineering Department, En. Abd Rashid Abd Rahman said, “ Although meeting client’s expectation to complete all the given projects simultaneously at the end of the year required substantial effort, we managed it well.” Under the Economic Stimulus Package 2009, the RM91 million road rehabilitation and maintenance work undertaken by Roadcare was divided into five main categories. These were: 1. Safety Programme for the states of Selangor, Pahang, Terengganu and Kelantan 2. Felda Allocation for the states of Selangor, Pahang, Terengganu and Kelantan 3. Jerantut in the state of Pahang 4. Jalan Mak Lagam in the state of Terengganu 5. Jalan Simpang Pelangai in the state of Pahang The end products of these works have undoubtedly benefit the road users, allowing them to enjoy comfortable riding experiences on roads which have been repaired and maintained well. Consequently there has been reduction in road user complaints. En Abd Rashid noted that Roadcare project members benefitted a great deal from the strong teamwork which was developed in accelerating work processes. He added that strong cooperation between head office, projects’ site offices and lab offices were forged, enabling the successful completion of the projects. Going forward, Roadcare has also picked up a vast amount of knowledge such as rigorous time management and uncompromised dedication to quality from these projects |
